Uganda-owned · Farm to cup · 10 years of experience
Rainforest Coffee manages the coffee value chain end to end, from cultivation and field care to harvesting, processing, roasting, packing and customer delivery. Our production is approximately 98% Robusta.
Single-estate focus
Rainforest Coffee is a Ugandan coffee company with a decade of experience across the farm-to-cup value chain. The business works from farms in Buikwe District and Nakasongola District, managing the steps that influence quality before the coffee reaches the customer.
Our approach is built around disciplined field care, careful harvest handling, clean processing, controlled roasting and direct customer engagement.
The value chain
Each stage is managed to protect plant health, cherry quality and consistency from field to finished pack.
Field management focuses on healthy trees, responsible nutrition, soil protection and practical organic methods that support long-term farm productivity.
Irrigation is used where required to support the crop through dry conditions, while water use is managed carefully around plant needs and local conditions.
Mulching helps retain soil moisture, reduce exposure of the soil surface and support a healthier root zone. Weed pressure is managed without compromising the coffee trees.
Harvest quality depends on selecting mature coffee cherries, removing unsuitable material and keeping harvested coffee clean before processing.
Sorting, drying and storage are controlled to reduce defects, protect flavour and keep lots clean before roasting.
Roast profiles are selected for the desired cup character, then coffee is packed and moved to customers through a direct order process.

From the farm
Buikwe District is approximately 60 km east of Kampala. Nakasongola District is approximately 116 km north of Kampala. Together, these farms support Rainforest Coffee's end-to-end production model.
Rainforest Coffee's crop is approximately 98% Robusta, reflecting Uganda's strength in robust, full-bodied coffee.
Roast selection
The current range retains the two roast profiles used in the existing Rainforest Coffee offering: medium roast and dark roast.
Medium roast
Roasted to retain more brightness, with a clean finish and the existing Rainforest Coffee profile of crisp flavour with chocolate and honey notes.
Dark roast
A longer roast profile that brings forward deeper roasted character and dark-chocolate notes, while keeping the coffee's robust body.

The existing range includes 250 g and 500 g packs, available as ground coffee or whole beans.

Harvest to roast
Prioritise mature cherries and clean handling.
Remove defective or unsuitable material before processing.
Keep coffee clean, dry and protected before roasting.
Use a controlled roast profile appropriate for medium or dark roast.
Protect the roasted coffee from moisture and contamination until use.
Brewing guide
The existing Rainforest Coffee guide supports drip brewers, French presses and moka pots.
Use 1-2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 oz of water, then adjust to taste.
Aim for 93-96°C water. Avoid using actively boiling water.
Set up your drip brewer, French press or moka pot with the correct filter or basket.
For a French press, steep for about four minutes before plunging slowly. For moka, use medium heat.
Serve black, with milk or sweetened to your preference.
